SEAI grant inspection
SEAI inspects a random sample of grant-funded installations. If you are selected, this is completely normal. An inspector will contact you by post or email to arrange a convenient time.
What they check: Panel installation quality and roof sealing. Inverter wiring and earthing. Generation meter presence. NC6 submission evidence. Whether you received a homeowner handover document from your contractor.
How to prepare: Keep your SEAI grant approval letter, your contractor's handover pack, and your inverter app login. The inspection is non-invasive and takes 30–45 minutes. You do not need to do anything to the system before the visit.
If your installation has problems: Tell the inspector honestly. SEAI is more interested in identifying rogue contractors than penalising homeowners. If your contractor did substandard work, SEAI has a complaints process and can investigate them.
