RetrofitReady is an independent information service built for homeowners, not for government compliance.
SEAI is brilliant at what it does — it runs the grant schemes, sets the rules, and pays out billions in support to Irish homeowners. But their website is written for accuracy and legal compliance, not for someone sitting at a kitchen table wondering where to start.
We built RetrofitReady because the gap between “grants exist” and “I actually got my retrofit done without getting caught out” is enormous.
Most homeowners don't know that:
- - Starting work one day early disqualifies them permanently
- - Their contractor can lose SEAI registration between quote and install
- - They have to choose between One Stop Shop and individual grants before spending a penny
- - The Warmer Homes wait is 24–26 months
- - Windows grants require your insulation to be rated Good or Very Good first
SEAI is the rulebook. We're the person who has read the rulebook and is sitting beside you explaining what it actually means for your home.
We are completely independent. We are not affiliated with SEAI, any government body, or any contractor. We don't do the work. We help you understand your options, avoid the pitfalls, and make a confident decision before you spend any money.
Why this matters
Research consistently finds the biggest barriers to home retrofit are not the grants themselves, but confusion and overwhelm, worry about cost and whether upgrades really save money, and concern about contractor trustworthiness. Consumer research has called for free, independent, personalised advice to guide homeowners through the whole journey. That is exactly what RetrofitReady is built to do — reduce the overwhelm, show what you could save, and help you find registered contractors, independently and for free.
How we make money
RetrofitReady is free to use. We are funded by contractors who pay to appear with enhanced listings. This never affects the information we provide — our advice is always homeowner-first.
