How RetrofitReady works
We built this to be the tool we wished existed when we were trying to figure out what to do with our own homes.
How contractors are ranked
Contractors are shown in order of distance from your home. The nearest SEAI-registered contractor who covers the upgrades you selected appears first.
No contractor pays to be ranked higher. Ever.
There is no premium placement, no sponsored listings, and no way for a contractor to buy their way to the top of results. Ranking is by distance only, with no exceptions.
We take no commission
RetrofitReady does not take any commission or referral fee on work carried out. When we connect you with a contractor, we do not receive any payment based on whether or how much work is done. The contractor receives 100% of the job value.
How we verify SEAI registration
SEAI registration numbers are cross-referenced with the SEAI published register. A contractor cannot appear as SEAI-registered on this platform unless their registration number is verified against SEAI records. Unverified listings are clearly marked.
Where the data comes from
- ✓Grant amounts: SEAI Better Energy Homes published schedule, March 2026
- ✓Typical costs: SEAI median from 21,764 completed retrofit projects, H1 2025
- ✓BER improvement estimates: SEAI published data by upgrade type
- ✓Contractors: SEAI published register of registered contractors
Nothing is copied from competitors. All data is sourced directly from publicly available SEAI publications.
Platform protections
- ✓Contractors cannot see other contractors' quotes or pricing
- ✓Contractors cannot contact a homeowner unless that homeowner requested a match
- ✓Reviews only accepted from users who completed an assessment linked to that contractor
- ✓Contractors reported 3 times by homeowners are flagged for review
- ✓Lead distribution is fair — equidistant contractors rotate in ordering
